Meeting point: Town Hall
Leuven

Welcome to a fascinating guided tour of Leuven.
We start at the bustling Grote Markt, where the centuries-old façades of the town hall and St Peter’s Church stand out amidst lively terraces. Appointment at 7 p.m. down at the stairs of the townhall.
From there, we head to the impressive University Hall, the former medieval cloth hall, where the university established its first faculties and where the city’s rich academic tradition becomes tangible.
Via the Oude Markt, nicknamed the longest pub counter in Europe, we continue our walk to the Groot Begijnhof, an oasis of tranquillity and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where time seems to stand still. We then continue our way past several distinctive colleges, including the Van Dale College, the Pope-college and the Lawschool at college the Falcon – each with its own stories and secrets.
We end our walk at the iconic University Library, a symbol of knowledge, resilience and international solidarity.
Let Leuven surprise you: a city where past and present meet on every street corner. Come along and experience it for yourself!

Naturally I support any efforts to educate the younger generation of scientists and librarians on how to make constructive use of the bibliometric and scientometric data that is available to them. I wish you all the best in your new endeavor. Best wishes.
