Guided Tour through the Historical City of Leuven

Tuesday, September 1st
19.00 – 21.00
Meeting point: Tree in Front of the Town Hall
Leuven

Included in the participation fee!

Welcome to a fascinating guided tour of Leuven.
We start at the bustling Grote Markt, where the centuries-old façades of the town hall and St Peter’s Church stand out amidst lively terraces. Appointment at 7:00 p.m. under the beautiful tree in front of the town hall, next to the church.
From there, we head to the impressive University Hall, the former medieval cloth hall, where the university established its first faculties and where the city’s rich academic tradition becomes tangible.
Via the Oude Markt, nicknamed the longest pub counter in Europe, we continue our walk to the Groot Begijnhof, an oasis of tranquillity and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where time seems to stand still. We then continue our way past several distinctive colleges, including the Van Dale College, the Pope-college and the Lawschool at college the Falcon – each with its own stories and secrets.
We end our walk at the iconic University Library, a symbol of knowledge, resilience and international solidarity.
Let Leuven surprise you: a city where past and present meet on every street corner. Come along and experience it for yourself!

Conference Dinner at Restaurant De Hoorn

Thursday, September 3rd
19.00 – 22.00
Sluisstraat, 79
3000 Leuven

Included in the participation fee!

Location: Skybox King

Anyone who enters De Hoorn immediately dons the new look of the old brewery. Dating back to the early 18th century, Stella was produced here – the magnificent copper kettles are still on view today. Only now De Hoorn is a playground of creative activity and fluid life, of authenticity fermenting and fresh ideas continuously streaming through. Not to mention fresh beers.
De Hoorn: the vibrant brew of our new era.

We welcome you in the Skybox King. Located on the seventh floor, he watches over our home city of Leuven. He stands out with plenty of natural light, lots of character, a sun-drenched private rooftop terrace, and a stunning view.

We offer you a luxury BBQ Signature dinner with a fine selection of grilled meat, fish, and vegetarian/vegan dishes, a delicious dessert from the BBQ, and a diverse range of (non-)alcoholic drinks.

Hope to see you all there!

Naturally I support any efforts to educate the younger generation of scientists and librarians on how to make constructive use of the bibliometric and scientometric data that is available to them. I wish you all the best in your new endeavor. Best wishes.
